Support Worker

On behalf of our client based in Tipperary, we are recruiting Support Workers for residential service supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. Part-time/ relief contracts are available to suit the ideal candidate.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality service in line with professional, national, and local standards
  • Work in accordance with current legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Promote person-centred care, recovery principles, and service user rights
  • Support residents with daily living needs including personal care, nutrition, social and independent living skills
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold strict confidentiality
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, including participation in crisis management when required
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the residential service
  • Comply with health & safety standards and report any risks or incidents
  • Engage with inspections and implement any required improvements

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of best practice in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to apply professional judgement and deliver safe, effective care
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (or willingness to learn)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, respectful approach
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality service delivery
