Senior Occupational Therapist

On behalf of our client in Public Health, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist (Paediatrics) to join a Primary Care team in Inchicore, Co.Dublin.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, family-centred occupational therapy services to children and young people within a community-based setting. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting children to maximise their independence, participation and development across home, school and community environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children and young people within the Primary Care setting.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based, goal-focused intervention plans to support children’s participation and independence in everyday activities including self-care, play, learning and community participation.
  • Manage a varied and complex paediatric caseload.
  • Provide clinical expertise and advice to children, families, carers and other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing and Medical colleagues.
  • Support families through education, coaching and provision of strategies to promote functional outcomes.
  • Complete relevant occupational therapy assessments including functional, sensory processing, motor, developmental and environmental assessments.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional standards.
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives and audit activity.
  • Provide clinical supervision, support and mentorship to junior Occupational Therapists and students as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of paediatric occupational therapy pathways within Primary Care.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with CORU (or eligibility to register).
  • Relevant post-qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrated experience working within paediatric occupational therapy.
  • Experience managing a paediatric caseload and delivering evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport (where required for community working).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with children with developmental difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, sensory processing differences and/or physical disabilities.
  • Experience within Primary Care, community services or children’s services.
  • Experience providing supervision, mentoring or clinical support to colleagues.
  • Experience contributing to service development projects.

Salary: In line with the HSE Senior Occupational Therapist salary scale. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Work Location: This is an in-person, community-based role located in Inchicore . The successful candidate will be required to work onsite and provide face-to-face occupational therapy services to children and families within the Primary Care setting.
