On behalf of our client in Public Health, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist (Adults) to join a Primary Care team based in Ballyfermot, Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy services to adults within a community-based setting. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals to maximise their independence, safety and participation in meaningful activities across home and community environments.
The role involves delivering evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention, managing an adult caseload, providing specialist clinical advice, and contributing to the ongoing development of occupational therapy services within Primary Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults within the Primary Care setting.
- Manage a varied and complex adult caseload, supporting individuals with a range of physical, functional, neurological, cognitive and psychosocial needs.
- Complete occupational therapy assessments to identify functional abilities, occupational performance needs and appropriate intervention plans.
- Develop and implement evidence-based, person-centred treatment plans to promote independence, safety and quality of life.
- Support individuals to maximise participation in daily activities including personal care, domestic tasks, work, leisure and community involvement.
- Provide specialist occupational therapy advice, education and support to service users, families, carers and other healthcare professionals.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with colleagues across Primary Care and wider community services.
- Complete environmental and functional assessments and recommend appropriate interventions, equipment and adaptations where required.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional standards and service requirements.
- Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit and evaluation activities.
- Provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to junior Occupational Therapists and students as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Occupational Therapy services within the Primary Care setting.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility to register).
- Relevant post-qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with adults within a healthcare, community or Primary Care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an occupational therapy caseload and deliver evidence-based interventions.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Full driving licence and access to transport, where required for community-based work.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with adults presenting with physical, neurological, cognitive and/or functional difficulties.
- Experience completing functional, environmental and equipment assessments.
- Experience working within Primary Care, community services or rehabilitation settings.
- Experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring or support to colleagues.
- Experience contributing to service improvement initiatives.
Salary: This position is offered in line with the HSE Senior Occupational Therapist pay scale, with salary placement dependent on relevant experience and incremental credit eligibility.
